Case Study
Slack
Internal A/B testing tool for engineers

Overview
Slack utilizes an internal tool to conduct experiments and test new product features prior to launch. However, the current experience was overwhelming, making it challenging to conduct the A/B tests. The user interface was slowing down the team and leading to unnecessary human errors.
In collaboration with the Data Tools team, our mission was to significantly enhance the user experience of their product. Our primary objective was to streamline the UI, reduce cognitive overload, and incorporate relevant user education.

Outcome
Understanding user needs
We conducted dozens of user interviews and documented recurring pain points and trends that emerged including the need for improved user education, issues with poor hierarchy, and missed data visualization opportunities throughout the UI.
The goal of this project was not to completely redesign the tool to the point of being unrecognizable. Instead, our aim was to make visual improvements that enhance scanability, reduce cognitive overload, and improve the overall user experience.

Final outcome
Noelle is an excellent designer. I am very glad we got to work together! I would love to work with her again and would highly recommend her to anyone looking to get product design done right the first time.
